So it has been almost a week since my foray into the world of bloody sensors and all I can say is “I wish this bruise would go away!” I swear this thing seems like it grows larger everyday. While I know that it is not true it is still annoying to see. I basically went a day without a sensor last weekend and put another one in about 2 inches away from the bad spot and it has been working like a champ. What a difference 2 inches makes. No blood, no pain, just good sensor readings. In the end I guess that is all i can ask for. Here’s what it looks like today, almost a week after removing the sensor:
- Ain’t it purdy?
As you can see the spot on the left is the bruise next to my belly button and the thingy on the right is my sensor with transmitter taped down. As in case you are wondering, yes I need to shave my abdomen to get the tape to stick. I am just a little hairy :D.
In other news, I am happy to say that Type 1’s are getting some good news in the form of stem cel research. This video
on msnbc gives me a little more hope that with some more research and testing there may really be a cure for this thing one day. I really hope they can fast track the research and get more people into studies, tests, or whatever. After 20 years of having diabetes it has become a part of me and second nature to me but I would gladly give that all up in a heartbeat to be “normal” again. Well as normal as I can be. I am soooooo tired of the pin pricks, the needles, the insulin, the carb counting, the quarterly blood tests; I could go on and on but you get the idea. I really hope that one day there is a cure for Type 1 in my lifetime. That would be a wonderful thing.
And onto other news, today is Disneyland’s 54th Birthday. I haven’t been in a while and hope to go on my birthday to celebrate. Happy Birthday Happiest Place on Earth!
